If I Were a Boy.

Always inspired by music. Imagine if I were a boy (then I would be girly boy?). I like to dress up! But if the whole world could just exchange their roles with other people for just the day then how would that change us? I demand that the next Nobel Peace Prize should be awarded to someone who can do that. Change us 'virtually' to have a different role of the exact opposite just to take the place of someone else's shoes. It would mean that hopefully we would learn something to better ourselves. However, then would we have to change back to our normal lives? I guess the point would be to learn to help make those less fortunate's lives better. Willing ones to have change. However, I don't know if that is far if others experience a lifestyle and then go back to a worse off one. Someone should be awarded if they can figure out the answer to that!

Recovery...

Just blogging about the entire Thanksgiving vacation can seem kind of boring...but just to inform everyone I've been also studying for the GRE! yeah for me! It's the Hit Parade...all puzzling me. I think I have learned only two words. But I do have an advantage for knowing Spanish and looking at some of the 'context clues' (of that one word) so that what the word is in Spanish is the meaning of what is given there. Hopefully, the entire test contains these types of words!

the holy black friday

When I first heard of the term 'Black Friday' I thought it was like "Black Monday" and why does everyone make a huge fuss over it if it is supposed to signify the horrible economy of the stock market. Well from my deductions and having participated in several Black Fridays it is supposed to bring out people in hiding to make purchases for the year. However with our current economic standing it was no surprise to see a huge decrease in the number of people during the sales. I had seen some outrageous prices savings which I took advantage of but also saw other items and the same price throughout the whole year. I really wanted a DVD player (since I accidentally broke mine the other day) but I found none priced at $10 so I guess I will be enjoying my movies from the computer. The mall was deserted (thank goodness!) but I still found those individual stores with people packed and what I believe were paying too much for overpriced clothing. Say no to $199 imported sweater! Just go to Walmart and purchase a warm jacket for $8. You can even buy two of them to keep yourself warmer!

Turkey Day!

In fact it was the supposed day that the native american people of our land (the land that was taken away from them) welcomed the pilgrims. How historically correct was it that for just one day the pilgrims and native americans feasted togehter. Then the next day they were fighting? Is it like an unsolved mystery how land was taken away from someone so that it could become the land of the free? I mean even now native americans, african americans, and other communities are being recognized for the mistreatment and unfair conditions that had been done in the past. But how do you really ask for forgiveness and make up for something that people's ancestors had committed. Maybe that question will be answered by the turn of the century.

Pre-Thanksgiving Day!

I always love the eve of thanksgiving because I can stay up late, wake up the next late morning, and only have to wait several more hours before the food is ready. I don't have to leave the house (for the most part) and can concetrate on preparing for a big appetite! Because I come from a small family we don't have to wait that long either to fully cook a small sized turkey. I love my mom's 'salad' that has apples, peas, corn, and mayo. It really does taste good! I hope we also have mashed potatos and corn bread which I don't mind making. I wonder how much money is spent each year on the grocceries used for the Thanksgiving meal. With the recent blows in the economy is there really going to be a huge drop? I believe that traveling at the airports have dropped significantly...thank goodness there is frequent flyer miles that you can earn with your credit card instead of just traveling!

Move your feet!

Don't stop the beat! by Junior Senior. At first when I heard this song I thought it was sung by Micheal Jackson. I found out it wasn't but I would really love to hear his version of the song...totally awesome!

The Terminal 2

As I was reading a 'news' article it informed me of a resident at the Mexico City airport. This man came to the airport had his ticket and everything but decided not to leave it. He stays in the building sleeping on a chair and gets donations from people who takes pictures with him. Even the local restaurants give him food (THAT IS RIGHT MEXICANS HELP OTHERS!) so that he can survive. But is he being a bum? Well he hasn't showered in the longest time and seems to be growing out a 'fro! There are others that live out on the street and ask for donations and guess what they are able to survive! On the local fox news the other day there was a special report over how much money people on the side of the road. Can they live off of it? Quite generously but who wants to be doing that everyday especially if it has detrimental affects on your health. But surely the report expressed the generousity in Mission when one of the undercover reporters dressed up as a pregnant woman. There is good in this world! =)

Am I One of Them?

A human being...as part of the human race I believe in equality for all. However, we are always finding ways to separate ourselves economically, in education, by titles, our beliefs, and culturally. Its not a bad thing. It is what makes us different and helps us learn about each other to see how diverse the world is. I want to know at what point though are we able to make our decisions about these things. We are born into a middle-class American household then we are expected to go to college (hopefully on scholarship!) and then have to work full time (because FASFA says your family makes enough money to support you fully as long as they have no fun or eat for the next 4-5 and 1/2 years.) to pay for books and ramen noodles throughout college. Then you get a great job (something you probably don't really like) get married (settle down) and have kids (who will have to support you once you retire from your crappy job)...but thats the life you need to survive nowadays. But do you actually get to choose what to do? I suppose you do since that is why there are crimminals which may make the wrong decision or decide to run for office. Anyways...just curious because sometimes when we complain about the simpliest things (I do) on the other side of the world people are working harder to get to where it is simple for us to get.

Will you go with me?

To the moon! I was watching Wall-E (seen recently I have been able to watch a lot of movies...and I don't know how) and saw the millions of satellites in outer space and freaked out! All that junk in outer space..I wonder if it is affected by the sunlight. The rays transfer and reflect off mirrors and shiny parts of the satellite and then increase its energy or something and then affects our environment. Nah..its just the imagination. I'd like to think that there aren't many satellites in orbit so I did some research. I read that the definition of satellites is technical. I would think of it as a "spacecraft" but it could also be debris that counts towards the number of satellites or "objects" that orbit the Earth. Right now there is over 2,000 objects in space with Russia putting out over half of them followed by the US (of course represent! no not really). NASA has intrigued me since I was a little girl. I wonder who really grows up and wants to be an astronaut, that sounds pretty cool to me!

Mamma Mia!

Again it was another challenge. We made a delicious cake from scratch and there was like 10 of us in the kitchen! It was beautiful! Decorated with fruit and chocolate with a minimal amount of frosting so as to not overpower it. I wonder how long it will take for us to eat it all up!

Cheater Cheater

by Joey and Rory. Where'd you meet her? and so on. Sometimes I wish I was invisible! Just so I can take better pictures. So others wouldn't know I was there and be able to 'capture' the moment! Then I would be all up in their space but still be able to get the weird angles and be up close and personal. Then almost be able to capture their thoughts...what they are thinking as they are holding certaining positions. Not capture the words in a conversation but the emotions. Sometimes I wish I also had 'green' magical powers or green wishes. It would be that if someone were to improperly throw trash into a recycling bin...that they didn't take the time to read it (their fault) or that they chose to ignore it (really their fault!) then the food would eject itself back and only land on the person who threw it away (so that the surrounding areas don't get dirty. So that for once people would learn to throw trash in the trash can (and maybe learn to use less waste so that they don't have to be throwing stuff away anyways) and recyclables in their proper bins.

Laughy Taffey and CV

So who would of thought that I would be making a CV so soon in my 'career'. But I suppose that is why its academic because I have not even graduated. hehe I plan to soon create a wonderful CV so that it can have presentations, research, different jobs I've taken, and other sorts of information. I like to work around people but also take interest in the lab. Its behind the scenes and you can still work with others. However, I want to be able to apply it! Well I would understand that that is the main purpose of research! To apply it so others can use it for further research, to investigate and understand why something occurs the way it does, to prevent or direct the pathway of an occurance, and so forth. That is why I would go into epidemiology. I want to find the cause and effects of an event. Understand what precautions can be taken but look at it from different points of view.

White Chicks!

That's a funny movie. I wonder how long it took to put those 'masks'/'costumes' on each day or however long it took to play the character. Was it easy to move in or was it easy to even act in it? Imagine if you could easily dress up differently everyday. Put on an 'outfit' one day and look white put on a different one the next day and look black. How do your eyeballs fit? How do they see through? Whenever I try to put on a mask it gets hot for me and the eyes look weird.

Book Followers

After seeing The Happening I have a new respect for nature! I mean I love my maple tree and red tulip! But do I have to worry about walking through the park one of these days. The movie explained that a toxin released into the air immediately affected the minds of individuals that would then kill themselves. The individuals were pretty creative in killing themselves..at one point I thought they were going to start killing each other! It was insane I believed for that to have happened.

Obstacles of Life!

Today was the obstacle competition. I was nervous the whole time. Just didn't want anything to go wrong...people to follow the rules..and have a good time...and make sure that someone did solve the puzzle! It did happen more than once and apologizes were made and assumed that they were an apology. hehe. Don't take anything personal at work. Its part of your job not about who you are. But isn't that why you get a job in the first place, because it should be something you are interested in and have a passion for?

MGC Event

On campus there is a Multicultural Greek Council which includes 5 different sororities and fraternities on campus. Today we had an event to showcase these organizations...however only 3 of us presented but it was awesome! I'm glad we can get the word out there of the variety of councils and orgs on campus and nationwide. We are diverse!

The Sun's Rays...

I can feel them going into my body. Those radical cells! Making wrinkles and taking away its luscious color. Its the degeneration of the cells that I cannot fix. However with all these 'antiwrinkle' creams I am curious to how really those creams and lotions are supposed to fix or prolong the situation from occuring. It only creates a protective layer from the sun so that you have to continuously apply it and then apply more. But then you can cover the rest of your body up and not apply there so noone else can tell the difference!

You could do whatever you like

I feel like I could do whatever I wanted to but time is limited. Even now as a senior in college I've only managed to 'manage' my time a little bit better than before (but it seems the same!). I like being busy in the first place because then I feel I have to stick to a stricter schedule and therefore spend time wisely on smart decisions rather than having too much free time and still having important things to take care of but doing it at the last minute! There must be some psychological explanation to this event! Oh its called procrastination and the lack of disciplining yourself! But I've learned here and there the "non-benefits" of procrastination.

Getting Use to the Time...

It's already been a week since the time change and I still haven't gotten use to it. Its almost 6 pm and outside its pitch dark. Well not exactly but it messes with your head! Though it makes the night last longer for studying so then I might fall asleep earlier and gets some hours covered. It must be messing up with my REM cycles. I was told by a friend that staying up late and having .insomnia can be a factor of bipolar disorder. Well who would have thought...I would just be in a bad mood if I didn't get that much sleep. It causes stress and so forth. My neurons need to rest at some point! Just kidding its my T and B lymphocytes that aren't functioning well enough!

Midnight Madness!

It's been a great Spirit Week and today is the final day! We are going to show off our spirit and spread the word. Along with our lovely fajita cooking skills we will knock your taste buds off! Hopefully, I learned from a trick question that cafeterias in schools don't have a "grade-D meat: fit for human consumption". Types of meat labeled for human 'consumption is by prime, choice, select, standard, commercial, utility, cutter, and canner. Imagine that! Also the type of meat used in the cafeteria is about the same used in restaurants. So I suppose it is the ingredients that make the restaurant ones taste better unless its golden corral or a fast food joint. Imagine if we lived in the times of "The Jungle" and did not have strict or any health regulations. It's e.coli and salmonella everyone! Also don't eat milk and cherries (while it has been sitting outside in the sun!).

So again...

So again with the new president thing...what is our outlook for the next two months. What advertisement of Obama will we see. Will he give us a Hallmark Thanksgiving Day or nice present for Christmas? Maybe, my friend received an email of him asking for more donations the day after the election! I was apalled! What more does he want...that is why donating his funds to the economy will help us out in general! I am sure the entire nation can get a $5 coupon to the Dairy Queen (that is including children too). But more importantly his campaign really has helped create more jobs to help stimulate the economy. People will then spend that money. Did you see all the supporters at the rally on election day? I am sure they filled up their cars with gas (or bought a metro ticket) and stopped somewhere to get a bite to eat at some small business, and then maybe were too tired to go back home and stayed in a hotel for the night. He did help stimulate the economy for a bit. And then he kept some people at home (McCain supporters) from going to a rally (because it was a bit pointless) and therefore helped save the Earth. Less pollution and movement of people! You see Obama does affect the environment.

So its the day after...

It's the day after a new beginning. Well not technically until January but its ok to tell yourself that it is now! Obama is in the house!!!! I am amazed.. I always wondered how old I would be when we would have a different cultured president. Somehow I pictured myself older..and now that I think about that it is unfortunate since we are in the period of change...and yet why did I think that things would never change. I would love to see a woman some day...well we almost did. Have you heard of Jennifer McKinnley?

election day!

Barack Obama is our president elect. Enough said.

painting the roses red

Well we are at least painting something...that is a wide white board. It is spirit week and you can go pick up your spirit shirts (which are a nice evergreen color) for only $5 at payments and collections. Of course I probably won't go until the end of the week to pick mine up!
